This was inspired, again, by Gala's International Dress-Up Day. These are really fun. She suggested the theme of evil twin or alter-ego for this month.

This is my evil twin. She smokes, sports real fur coats, wears blood diamonds, eats meat, carries all her animal-tested cosmetics in a crocodile-skin handbag, and drives an old gas-guzzling Cadillac. She really is evil.



P.S. I know I haven't updated in a while, it's been hard to juggle social life, work, and art. I'm catching up on the portraits and promise a proper update soon.

Gala suggested the theme "Film Noir" for her fourth monthly International Dress-Up Day, so I decided to draw a film-noir style self-portrait. I'm really, really happy with this one.

My mom says she's heard that a lack of exposure to sunlight is actually some sort of carcinogen, and that's why there are more cases of cancer in countries that are farther away from the equator, than in countries that are close to it. So we took down the roof of her convertible New Beetle as we drove home.



Very Mucha, but a little too simple...

I had an interview for a job today. I'm not sure it went so well, and it was super short. This is pretty much what it felt like...

I spent the day doing research for a comic I've developping with my housemates, with Lost playing in the background. I sometimes prefer to work to a movie or TV show, rather than listening to music.


The right arm of the couch is wrong, but it's a fairly minor mistake. I rather like the face, the legs and the feet.

I was having a really bland day today, so I picked a few cherry blossoms out of a tree and made myself a small bouquet. It's sitting in a giant brandy glass in my kitchen window now, and it really livened up my afternoon!

Today was the last day I had pink hair.

Although we went to the Tulips Festival for Mother's Day, the daffodils sprouting up by the roadside seemed to make a bigger impression on her. Either way, it was a pretty colourful day!

Tonight we watched (or in my case, listened, because I was having supper in the dining room away from the TV) part of Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, then channel-surfed until we found Pirates of the Carribbeans: Dead Man's Chest, before tuning in to the hockey game. The Sens were playing the Sabres. I fell asleep when they went into overtime, but woke up right in time to witness the Sens'  winning goal! Go Sens!

My boyfriend came over for dinner and we shared some wine on my balcony.



I'm pretty happy with the hand and the glass, and the reflection in the wine, but not so much with the Morris-like vine frame... They don't seem to match for some reason.

J. and I blew some soap bubbles outside in the dark tonight. We asked the other J. to join us, but having just discovered that the original English version of Harry Potter rocked, he prefered to watch that.

Mimi really wanted to be outside today, so I let her explore my balcony. She made me very nervous, trying poke herself through the railing (she fell off the roof of my mother's house once), so I carried her back in. She'll be crying for the door all summer now.



p.s. The tree in front of my balcony has one dead broken branch that reminds me of a skeleton hand, and really creeps me out. See if you can find it!

The weather started to get warm again today, and I had errands to run, so I walked everywhere. The city's getting colorful!

I went to Bridgehead with my boyfriend for some nice fair-trade coffee. I think we talked about dumping J. alone in the wilderness so he could experience the "real" Canada.

My mother invited me over for dinner to celebrate my sister's return from the Dominican Republic. We toasted the first leaves of spring.

My best friend got married today. It was a beautiful day.

For the first time in about 2 years, I had an exam tonight. My whole future depends on my mark...
